Description

About us

Part3 is a ConstructionTech startup that gives Architects and Engineers the tools they need to manage construction. Our mission is simple – to help designers create a built world faster, and more efficient, than ever before..

Architects and Engineers design the world we live in and the communities we engage in, but in modern-day construction the administrative burden is overwhelming. Part3 is here to provide the tools they need to work smarter, earn more, and keep up with the ever-increasing pace of construction.

Part3 is a seed-stage, Venture-backed startup on an aggressive growth trajectory and ready to expand our engineering capabilities, and take meaningful strides towards automating Construction Administration as we know it.

About you

As an AI/ML Engineer at Part3, you’re driven by the opportunity to apply cutting-edge machine learning and AI processing to real-world problems that have gone unsolved for too long. You’re not just interested in the latest models—you care about impact, about building AI that’s practical and usable.

You thrive in early-stage, greenfield environments where the path forward isn’t fully mapped, and that’s exactly where we are with AI at Part3. You’ll be leading foundational work—bringing structure to unstructured documents, surfacing insights buried in PDFs, and experimenting with LLMs to intelligently assist users in their day-to-day work. Whether it’s semantic search, summarization, extraction, or agent workflows, you know how to assess what’s possible today, and where to push the boundaries tomorrow.

You value autonomy but also love collaborating with all departments. Most importantly, you understand that shipping a prototype that actually works is worth more than theorizing about the perfect model that never sees daylight.

On the technical side - You bring at least 5 years of hands-on experience working with machine learning, ideally with a strong foundation in NLP and experience deploying models into production environments. You've worked with modern ML frameworks like PyTorch, Hugging Face, or LangChain and can confidently build pipelines, fine-tune models, and make smart infrastructure tradeoffs. SaaS experience is a bonus, but your ability to move fast, learn deeply, and build responsibly is what matters most.

Despite all your technical depth, you’re user-obsessed—someone who sees AI not as a shiny feature, but as a tool to genuinely help the architects, contractors, and owners who rely on Part3. At Part3, we don’t just implement AI for the sake of it. We listen to our users, identify the moments where AI can add real value, and design systems that feel invisible but powerful.

If that sounds like the kind of impact you’re after—you’ll feel right at home. Literally, we’re remote :)

What you’ll do:
  • Lead applied AI research and development efforts across natural language, document understanding, and workflow automation.
  • Prototype, test, and deploy AI features that integrate seamlessly into our platform’s UX.
  • Identify the right models, tools, and infrastructure to support our current needs and future scale.
  • Work closely with product, design, and engineering to explore and validate opportunities where AI can meaningfully impact users.
  • Establish our in-house best practices for machine learning development and model evaluation.
  • Lay the groundwork for future AI hires and team expansion.

What we’re looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning, AI engineering, or applied research.
  • Proven experience shipping LLM integrations and/or machine learning models into production environments.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving contexts, and taking ideas from 0 → 1.
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
  • Solid background in natural language processing (NLP), including techniques beyond large foundational models.
  • Familiarity with computer vision and applying it in real-world use cases.
  • Experience working with unstructured data, especially in extracting meaningful information from PDFs or complex documents.
  • Skilled in using open-source tools, with a practical approach to evaluating build vs. buy decisions (e.g., open-source vs. commercial APIs).
  • Proficiency in Python and modern ML libraries such as PyTorch and LangChain.
  • Bonus: Experience with construction documents, architectural drawings, or other semi-structured formats is a plus.

Why this role is unique:
  • Greenfield opportunity: You'll be the first AI hire and will help shape the future of AI at Part3.
  • Impactful work: We're a product-led company building tools that simplify a critical part of the construction process. Your work will change the industry.
  • Strong product-market fit: We’re not experimenting in a vacuum—Part3 is already a trusted solution for many top firms.
  • Smart, nimble team: We move quickly, think deeply, and care a lot about what we’re building.

Why Part3?

This is your chance to be more than a cog in a machine, and have a meaningful impact every day. You’ll work directly with the founding team of entrepreneurs to grow the next major ConstructionTech startup in North America.

When it comes to working culture, we’re throwing out the rule book. Some of us have families and have grown Part3 amid a global pandemic - this has taught us the importance of a flexible work schedule, and ownership in both your work and company goals.
  • Company ownership
  • Autonomous, meaningful, and challenging work
  • Work with colleagues who support each other and have a passion for company culture
  • Half-day Fridays and a generous vacation policy
  • Brand new Macbook
